INDONESIA CRUISE – SORONG TO SORONG

All of Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat casts a spell on all who visit: scuba divers, scientists, photographers, and crusty sea salts alike. This group of majestic islands, located on the
northwestern tip of Indonesia’s Papuan “Bird’s Head Seascape,” lies in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the most bio-diverse marine region on earth. There are some areas where soft corals and sea fans dominate, others with amazing, diverse hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Then there is the marine life – lots of it, in more shapes and sizes than anywhere else in the world. Raja Ampat’s reefs, from pygmy seahorses to top predators, are teeming with life.

This intriguing new cruise route takes Dewi Nusantara from Sorong, the principal departure port for the Raja Ampat islands, all the way down to
Kaimana on the West Papuan mainland. Along the way, we will be able to explore not just one but three major cruising and scuba diving regions in
eastern Indonesia.

Triton Bay, The Bomberai Peninsula & The Eastern Forgotten Islands

Join Dewi Nusantara as she embarks on yet another voyage of discovery. This is a one-off exclusive cruise that starts from the West Papuan town of Kaimana in early March and finishes at Tual, the capital town of the Kei Islands. The scuba diving highlights along the route include Triton Bay, with the added attraction of the Namatote whale sharks. Moving northward along the West Papuan coastline, there are many spectacular offshore seamounts to discover before heading west to the remote outpost of Koon. Dewi will then head south and take in the wonderful dive sites and topside scenery of the Watubela and Kei Islands.

The Eastern Forgotten Islands, Banda Islands, Central Maluku & Ambon

Dewi Nusantara presents a brand new itinerary that combines some exciting new areas for our guests on the Goddess of the Archipelago to discover. Starting at Tual, the capital of the Kei Islands our route runs north along the East Forgotten Islands line of Kur and Watubela before reaching the outpost of Koon on the south-eastern corner of Ceram. We then make our way south-west and visit the historic Banda Islands. After exploring Banda it is onwards to the Lease Islands of Nusa Laut, Saparua, Haruku and finally Ambon.

Ambon, Central Maluku & The Banda Islands

Dewi Nusantara presents a brand new itinerary that combines some exciting new areas for our guests on the Goddess of the Archipelago to discover. It covers the seascape to the south and east of Buru Island, the Lease Islands of Ambon, Haruku, and Saparua, the famous Banda Islands, and will also include some of the well-known destinations at the eastern end of the intriguingly named Forgotten Islands chain. The scuba diving highlights along the route take in the whole spectrum of Indonesia’s world famous underwater world.

For a single cruise during her busy season, Dewi Nusantara begins this journey across the north coastline of North Papua, before arriving at the far-flung eastern Indonesian region of Cenderawasih Bay. This gives our guests exclusive access to some of the very best dive sites that the bay has to offer.

The region is huge, 50,000 sq km, with hundreds of islands and an astounding array of habitats, translating to wildly different diving experiences. They range from pelagic drift dives to magic muck dives, and there are even some habitats that are special to Raja Ampat, such as clear-water mangroves with corals growing right next to them. There are thousands of potential dive sites, and there are chances for new and amazing discoveries on every trip.
